The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the September payment schedule, confirming the SASSA old age grant payment date is Tuesday, 2 September 2025. Beneficiaries can check their SASSA older persons grant status to make sure their grant is approved and ready for the September 2025 payments.
2 September 2025 SASSA Old Age Grant Payment Date Confirmed
This September, the SASSA Old Age Grant payment date is confirmed for Tuesday, 2 September 2025, marking the start of the monthly social grant payments.
- Old Age Grant Pay Day Tuesday 2 September 2025 (02/09/2025) 07:30 AM to 04:00 PM
SASSA will pay the Older Persons Grant (pension) together with any linked Grant In Aid to eligible beneficiaries.
Other social grants, that is the Disability Grant and Child Support Grant, will follow after the Old Age Grant pay day.
SASSA Old Age Grant Status Check for September 2025
For September 2025, SASSA has updated its online database to reflect the current month’s payment status for beneficiaries. This update confirms whether a grant application is approved or declined for September.
- To check your SASSA Old Age Grant status, visit sassacheck.com
- Enter your South African ID number and registered cellphone number
- SASSA database will display your Old Age Grant status for September 2025.
If your Old Age Grant status result shows approved for September 2025, you will receive payment for the month.
SASSA will deposit your grant money directly into your bank account or make it available through your Postbank black card.
Important Notice: Amid the termination of the SASSA Postbank MSA contract, the Department of Social Development (DSD) has assured Postbank cardholders that they will continue to have uninterrupted access to their September 2025 grant payments from SASSA.
