2. On the homepage find the “Click here to apply online” button to access the SRD application form.
3. Enter your cell phone number for registration and click the “Send SMS” button.
4. You will receive a 6-digit OTP code in a message on your cell phone number.
5. Input the OTP number and click the “Verify Pin” button.
6. Agree to the Terms and Conditions for Declaration and Consent Document Rules.
7. Provide your South African ID if you are a citizen, and File Number or Green Book Number if you are a Special Permit holder.
8. Complete the screening questions and fill in all the fields correctly, including Name, Surname, Gender, Address, Income, and Job status.
9. Add your banking details for the payment option (Bank Name, Branch, Account Type), or select a SASSA partnered retail store for “Send Cash.”
10. Submit your complete SASSA SRD R370 grant application form with your preferred payment method.
11. SASSA verifies and processes your application and banking details from the Department of Home Affairs database.
12. You will receive a SASSA confirmation message on your registered mobile phone number confirming your SRD R370 grant is active and approved.
13. Asylum Seekers and Special Permit holders will be sent a Payment ID to collect the approved SRD grant payment at Pick ‘n Pay or other preferred retail stores.

How Long SASSA SRD R370 Grant Extended

The SASSA extension for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant has been active since April 2024, as confirmed by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana. Beneficiaries are now receiving R370 payments for the SRD grant from May 2024 onwards, an increase from the previous limit of R350 per month. This announcement was made during the 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA), where President Cyril Ramaphosa declared the extension of the SRD grant until March 2025. This announcement, cleared by Mr Godongwana, ensures that SASSA beneficiaries can access this SRD support program until March 2025.

Important Note for SASSA SRD Grant Applicants

To ensure your application is successful and you receive your monthly funds, please take note of the following concerns.

1. If your SRD R370 grant application is declined, you’ll receive a reason from SASSA via SMS. If you disagree with the decision, you have the option to submit SASSA appeal to have your application reconsidered.
2. The reasons for a rejected application may include if the means test finds another income source, if your bank balance exceeds the eligibility criteria, or if there are errors in your employment or banking details. Keeping your bank balance below ZAR 624 can help ensure qualifying when resubmitting with a SASSA reapplication.
3. To reconsider declined SRD grant, your appeal will be reviewed by the ITSAA at the Department of Social Development. If your appeal is successful, your application will be reconsidered for monthly payments starting from the month it was initially declined.
