SASSA Gold Cards Remain Valid for June 2025 Payments

Postbank has officially confirmed that SASSA Gold Cards remain valid for June 2025 payments. This announcement brings reassurance to millions of social grant beneficiaries who are still in the process of transitioning to the new black Postbank cards.

Millions of beneficiaries have yet to receive their replacement cards due to the slow transition to new Black Cards. In response, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has directed Postbank to extend the validity of the existing Gold Cards. While no new expiry date has been officially announced, an update is expected after 30 June 2025.

SASSA Gold Cards Remain Valid for June 2025 Payments

Despite the previous 31 May 2025 deadline to migrate all beneficiaries to new Postbank Black Cards, Postbank has officially confirmed that SASSA Gold Cards will remain valid beyond 30 June 2025. This extension ensures no disruption in grant payments for those who’ve waited for the transition.

Beneficiaries who have already moved to the new Postbank Black Card will work normally for their June 2025 payments, with added benefits such as improved security and upgraded banking services.

In an official announcement, Postbank CEO Nikki Mbengashe stated:

“SASSA Gold Cards will continue to work until every beneficiary has successfully transitioned to the new Black Card system.”

We can confirm that SASSA Gold Cards will be fully functional throughout June 2025, providing uninterrupted access to all SASSA grant payments.

This means beneficiaries can use their Gold Cards for withdrawing grants at ATMs, buying goods in retail stores, and making payments across South Africa.

When Will the SASSA Gold Card Expire After June 2025

As of now, there is no official deadline for when SASSA Gold Cards will expire. Postbank and SASSA are expected to announce further details after 30 June 2025. Until then, beneficiaries can continue using their Gold Cards to receive their grants on the scheduled June 2025 SASSA payment dates.

There is no need to panic or rush. Your Gold Card will remain active for the SRD R350 Grant, Older Persons Grant, Child Support Grant, and Disability Grant throughout June 2025 and beyond, until you officially migrate to the new Postbank Black Card system.

SASSA has assured the public that no beneficiary will lose access to their grants while there is migration to the Postbank black card.
