SASSA Opened New Grant Applications for June 2025

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially opened new grant applications for June 2025. With this announcement, SASSA is now accepting applications both at regional offices and through its online portal. Applications are open to qualifying South African citizens, permanent residents, and asylum seekers who require social grant support.

SASSA Opened New Grant Applications for June 2025

SASSA invites eligible applicants to apply for various social grants, including the Older Persons Grant, War Veterans Grant, Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant, Disability Grant, Care Dependency Grant, and the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R370 Grant.

All first-time applicants and those reapplying after a lapse in benefits must submit their new applications through the official SASSA online services website, srd.sassa.gov.za, or by visiting the local SASSA offices. Regional and provincial offices are now accepting new applications from qualified individuals.

Applicants are advised to prepare valid supporting documents, such as the South African ID or birth certificate for children, proof of income (if applicable), medical reports for disability-related grants, and relevant court orders for foster children, depending on the grant type.

The deadline for June 2025 grant applications is the last working day of May, 31 May 2025. Social grants applications submitted after this date will only be considered for July 2025.

SASSA Registration and Qualifications for June 2025 Grant Applications

SASSA applies specific eligibility criteria for each grant type and only approves applications from individuals who meet these qualifications to receive monthly grant payments.

Registration for SASSA programmes requires applicants to be South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees residing in South Africa with a valid permit.

After registration, applicants can apply for a SASSA grant based on their circumstances, fulfilling specific eligibility criteria such as age, disability, fostering, child care, income, or family status.

Important: SASSA prohibits multiple social grants and SRD grant applications per individual. Receiving more than one social grant is a violation and may lead to suspension. Applicants in state-funded institutions are ineligible, except those in old-age homes or public hospitals.
