SASSA Postbank MSA Ends September 2025 Grant Payments Unaffected
The Department of Social Development has confirmed that the SASSA Postbank Master Service Agreement (MSA) officially ends in September 2025.
Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe told Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Social Development that this is purely an administrative and contractual matter, and it will not affect grant beneficiaries. All SASSA grant payments for September 2025 will continue as normal.
“The termination of the MSA is a contractual matter to close an agreement that no longer serves its original purpose. Postbank remains a fully licensed financial institution, and SASSA beneficiaries will continue to receive their grants in their Postbank accounts as before,” Minister Tolashe stated.
The Portfolio Committee on Social Development previously highlighted in a government statement that beneficiaries who do not wish to use a Postbank black card can still receive their SASSA grants through another bank account. To do this, beneficiaries need to complete the SASSA banking details update process online, ensuring uninterrupted access to funds.
This update confirms that while the SASSA Postbank contract ends in September 2025, grant payments remain fully secured. Beneficiaries will continue receiving grant money through Postbank cards or directly into their personal bank accounts, based on their chosen payment method.
