How to Update Your Phone Number for June 2025 SASSA Grant
To prevent unauthorised access to your SASSA grant due to a lost or compromised phone number, start by reporting the issue to the SASSA helpline at 0800601011. Once your report is logged, you will be allowed to update your phone number either online through the SASSA website or by visiting your nearest SASSA office.
To continue receiving your SASSA R350 grant and other social grant payments without interruption, you must update your phone number through the SASSA change phone number online process. This ensures your approved grant remains active, verified, and protected.
Once your contact details are updated, SASSA will send a new OTP for verification. This confirms that you are the original applicant who applied for the SASSA grant. This applies to all SASSA grants, including the SRD R350 Grant, Child Support Grant, Older Persons Grant, and Disability Grant.
Update: From May 2025, SASSA has strengthened its fraud prevention system. If your phone number does not match SASSA records, your payment for June 2025 may be declined.
What to Do After Updating Your Phone Number
After updating your phone number with SASSA, allow up to 48 hours for the system to reflect the changes. Once updated, you can check your SASSA grant status for June 2025 using your ID number and the new mobile number. Make sure to keep the updated number active and avoid frequent SIM swaps or changing mobile networks, as this may affect OTP delivery and delay your grant payments.
Why Keeping Your Contact Details Updated Matters
It’s important to update your phone number before SASSA payments commence for June 2025. Your original identity document and registered mobile number are used for identity verification. Each month, SASSA sends OTPs to confirm approved payments, so keeping your number active is required to remain eligible for grant disbursements.
Only the verified phone number will be used to receive timely SASSA communication, including payment updates, monthly R350 status checks, and verification OTPs. Incorrect contact details can result in missed payments, account suspensions, or verification failures. Keeping your number updated is essential to secure uninterrupted access to your social grant and SRD grant.
Important: Social grant payments for June 2025 will commence from 3 June, and SRD grant payments will be disbursed from 25 June 2025, based on confirmed payment dates for June. To avoid last-minute issues, make sure your phone number is updated before the payment window begins.
