The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced that applications for the Social Relief of Distress Grant for June 2025 are now open. This essential financial support, providing R370 per month, is aimed at assisting unemployed individuals and those earning less than R624 per month during times of economic hardship.

New applicants can submit their R370 applications online through the srd.sassa.gov.za or by visiting local SASSA offices nearby. The process involves filling out a submission form with personal details to determine your qualification.

SASSA’s announcement for June 2025 SRD applications invites eligible South Africans, residents, and asylum seekers with special permits to receive monthly financial support. The SASSA social relief grant is especially important for unemployed individuals who lack any form of income.

To apply for the Social Relief of Distress Grant, applicants must provide a 13-digit bar-coded South African identity document, proof of citizenship, and a personal mobile number or email address. If an ID or birth certificate is unavailable, an affidavit commissioned by a local chief, councillor, or religious leader must be submitted.

Qualification Criteria for SRD Grant Applications

SASSA considers South African citizens, permanent residents, refugees, and asylum seekers with legal permits eligible to apply for the SRD grant June 2025. Current SRD beneficiaries do not need to submit a reapplication every month unless they are updating or correcting previous information.

To qualify for the SRD Grant, applicants must follow the given criteria.

  • Age between 18 and 59 years old
