SASSA’s announcement for June 2025 SRD applications invites eligible South Africans, residents, and asylum seekers with special permits to receive monthly financial support. The SASSA social relief grant is especially important for unemployed individuals who lack any form of income.
To apply for the Social Relief of Distress Grant, applicants must provide a 13-digit bar-coded South African identity document, proof of citizenship, and a personal mobile number or email address. If an ID or birth certificate is unavailable, an affidavit commissioned by a local chief, councillor, or religious leader must be submitted.
Qualification Criteria for SRD Grant Applications
SASSA considers South African citizens, permanent residents, refugees, and asylum seekers with legal permits eligible to apply for the SRD grant June 2025. Current SRD beneficiaries do not need to submit a reapplication every month unless they are updating or correcting previous information.

SASSA Update June 2025
Starting May 2025, SASSA has introduced stricter monthly checks to prevent fraud. Your R370 application will not be accepted if your SRD status check shows identity verification pending, discrepancies are detected, or your personal information does not match DHA records.
