Transfer Money from SASSA Card to Capitec

SASSA (South African Social Security Agency) recommends every recipient of a social grant and SRD R350 connect their bank accounts to receive grant money directly, avoiding the need to go to the Post Office. It doesn’t matter if you have a Capitec bank account or a Standard Bank account you have the option to transfer your funds from your SASSA card to your bank account.

The process to Transfer Money from SASSA card to Capitec is simple, and it will take just 1 minute. You need to fill out the SASSA banking details form, which will change your payment method from SASSA card to a bank account for your R350 social relief grant.

To transfer money from your SASSA card to a Capitec account, follow these simple requirements.

  • Make sure you have your SASSA card is active.
  • Your Capitec account details including your account number, account type, and branch code.

Transfer Money from SASSA Card to Capitec

Changing SASSA payment method from gold card to a bank account for SRD R350 is simple. It follows the same procedure for all other social grants, including Old Age, Care Dependency, Disability, Children Grants, and more through these steps.

  1. Visit the SASSA Change Banking Details page.
  2. Complete the SASSA banking details form online.
  3. Provide your 13-digit South African Identity Number and your cell phone number.
  4. Enter the 6-digit OTP number sent to your phone and click ‘Verify Pin.’
  5. Ensure you enter the correct details for your Capitec Bank account including.
    • Capitec Bank Account Number
    • Capitec Bank Branch Code
    • Capitec Bank Account Type
  6. Submit your form to complete your request to Transfer Money from the SASSA card to Capitec.

After this process, SASSA will send your payments to your Capitec bank account instead of your SASSA card. This change in payment method will allow you to receive SASSA money directly in your Capitec bank account. From the next payment cycle, you can collect future payments via your bank account at Capitec.

Announcement: Postbank has confirmed the validity of expired SASSA Gold Cards for 2024 social grants payments. If your card has expired, you can still use your SASSA Card to withdraw payments without any issues.

Important Note for SASSA Card Holders

  • If you choose the bank account payment option, such as Capitec Bank of South Africa, ensure that you are the account owner. SASSA cannot deposit your grant into someone else’s bank account.
  • If you opt for the money transfer option through one of the major South African banks, make sure that the mobile phone number where you received the SMS is registered in your name. SASSA cannot pay your grant into a mobile phone number registered to another person.
  • Please note that the new banking details will only be used for future payments after verification. The verification process typically takes about 30 days to connect your bank with the SASSA payment system. You will receive a notification when the process is completed.
